# One agent reviewing itself or a separate agent review

Self-review is convenient because the agent already knows its implementation context.

Self-review is convenient because the agent already knows its implementation context. A separate reviewer can inspect the result from another working context. Compare their evidence on your task instead of assuming that another model always catches more defects.

Both methods need a requirement and a fixed version. Without those inputs, a confident review can evaluate the wrong behavior. Independence is useful only when the reviewer has the information needed to challenge the change.

## What self-review makes easy

The builder can inspect its patch and run relevant checks without another handoff. It knows the files it changed and the assumptions behind the implementation. This is a useful first inspection.

The same assumptions can also shape its review. Asking the builder to repeat “is this correct?” may not introduce a new evaluation method. Require concrete checks rather than a general confidence statement.

## What a separate reviewer changes

Another session can compare the implementation with the original requirement without carrying every step of the builder's reasoning. It can question missing behavior or inspect different evidence. That opportunity is not a guarantee of a better answer.

The separate session also needs context transfer and authorized access. If the requirement exists only in the builder's chat, the reviewer may judge a different task. Record that requirement before requesting inspection.

## Use the same evaluation criteria

| | Evidence to compare |
| --- | --- |
| Requirement coverage | Which expected behaviors were actually checked |
| Findings | Location, consequence, and supporting evidence |
| False alarms | Findings that do not apply to the inspected version |
| Missing checks | Environment or access gaps explicitly reported |
| Handoff cost | Actual transfers and clarification needed |

Do not infer a quality percentage from a few convenient examples. Preserve both useful findings and failed assumptions.

## Coordinate the separate review through Tinovio

Create a review task for a particular supported session. Include the fixed commit, shared decision, and completion condition. Keep the reviewer read-only when the result should be findings.

The reviewer reads the decision and returns evidence in the task thread. It addresses the builder in the handoff. The builder then checks the finding and records any correction under its own task.

This separates inspection ownership from implementation ownership. It also leaves a record for a later session. Tinovio does not make the reviewer infallible or substitute for required tests.

## Keep the method that improves the actual result

Use self-review for quick local checks and a separate review when another inspection is worth its coordination cost. A focused plugin can also provide a second opinion within an existing tool.
